For years I have been reviewing different web hosting companies and have always stressed that your web hosting provider needs to have SSD hosting. It helps the overall user experience because sites that are hosted on SSD hosting hard drives load so much quicker (300% quicker to be exact). So, if you’re wondering what is SSD hosting you have come to the right place because I am going to explain it down below.
Here Are 3 Benefits of SSD Hard Drives
Database Driven Application
SDD hard drives are excellent for database driven applications. A custom application or an e-commerce website needs to have a significant amount of database input and output and as the site gets more traffic the person’s hard drive will be getting much more I/O requests. The vast amount of I/O requests could over time slow down the information from a database. SSD Hosting proves to be much more sufficient because SDD hosting has no use for any moving objects or parts, data transfer is only restricted by the speed of the network. SSDs are able to outmatch the hard disk drives when on the I/O transfer. SSDs are able to push out at least 95 percent more data than the hard disks they were tested against.
Benchmarking Latency
The next item to bring up regarding SSD’s is benchmarking latency. SDDs are free of two issues in which standard hard drives have to face. These two issues are the rotational latency that is on the disk and the seek time which it takes for the read/write head to locate the data that is presented on the disk. SSD hard disk drives under high network load were both compared against one another, and it was shown that the hard disk drives take 20 times longer to obtain data during an instance of a large amount of I/O requests.
Data Loss Prevention
SSD hard drives are excellent for data loss prevention. The SSD’s can use RAID cards with the help of battery-backed non-volatile caching. Is useful because if a power loss were to happen any data that was not written would simply be stored in the cache until the server comes back on. Any inbound data at that point would be both written and stored.
Some Web Hosting Companies That Offer SSD Hosting
I have done all the research for you when it comes to SSD hosting, though. There are tons of different hosting companies, and they all offer different bells and whistles so it can be tough to make a decision when it comes to picking out a good host. There are many companies that offer SSD hosting for most of their plans if not all of them.
Performance Gains Are Substantial
SSD hosting is much more reliable than regular hard drives, and they help speed up your websites performance. When you integrate your WordPress website with a caching plugin, don’t be surprised if your site loads in under 3 seconds. According to KissMetrics loading tie does affect your ranking in Google, too. I have worked on various websites that were struggling in Google and once we switched them over to SSD hosting made a couple other small changes they shot up in the ranking substantially.
Is SSD Hosting Worth It?
Yes, I do believe SSD hosting is worth it. We are all impatient when browsing for information online and having a quick loading website goes a long way. Clearly, SSD hosting is the way to go. But, don’t jump to the first company that offers SSD hosting because some of them have some issues in different areas of their service. You might think that it’s going to cost you a little extra money, but it doesn’t. As different web hosting companies are competing for your business; they do keep their prices very competitive.
Lastly, if you are unhappy with the speed of your website it would be worth your while to switch over to SSD hosting, because the the benefits far out weigh the cons.

Wow I learned something new today. I have never heard of SSD hosting, Is it true that it is 300% faster loading? I have been looking into different hosting sites myself and I will be taking this into consideration from now on. I see the hosts you don’t really believe are worth it and I will stay away from those. SSD hosting sounds like a must have in order to make your customers happier by not waiting as long to load your site. I know I have waited for a site for a while and it upsets me.

Yeah, SSD hosting is certainly the way to go. People seem to make the mistake of using a host that doesn’t use SSD hard drives. For years they have been what all the big name host are using. Here are three more companies that are using SSD:
RoseHosting
InterServer
Turnkey Internet
But, I do SEO work and I have a good tip. If you check your site with GTMetrix.com and noticed that is loading slowly. You can always switch host, and it helps your SEO. Do make sure you are using a caching plugin, too. This can cause your site to load much quicker.

Blown away by the stuff you know about technology! I always just figured all hard drives were the same. Except for some hold more than others. Do you happen to know if Wealthy Affiliate is using SSD hosting, though?

You’re right – SSD hosting is really worth it! I was also looking for hosts that provide SSD hosting, and I noticed much faster loading with my sites. Now my website is much faster than it used to be. The simple solutions were just using SSD hosting all this time!

That was a great article. I am looking for a new hosting company because I am not happy with load times from BlueHost. I have found Tinypng which helps with picture size because I am all about the pictures in my articles but still I time it all the time and not liking what is going on.
I will definitely check out the ones you recommend. I am also planning a new site database of my 1,000’s of sports trading cards so need a good one for that also.
Thanks.

Yeah, BlueHost is an EIG owned company. They own lots of different hosts. I have heard mostly good things about them. However, some people are really not a fan of them.
Also, you will probably notice a SEO boost once you move a site over to SSD hosting. Quicker loading sites equal higher rankings. This is because it increases the user experience. Google lovess that! They have always been about the user experience.

If this SSD cures slow loading, it is well worth it. I scratch my head every time my website loads slowly. I know that I will have more patience than my customers will. It would be interesting to know how many millions of pages were abandoned when they didn’t load as quickly as they might have. And how many millions of dollars are there in lost sales because of that?
Garen says
Lots I am guessing. You can always check your Google Analytics. If you have a high bounce rate chances are your site is loading slowly. Google does do page loading test, too. Make sure they are under 3 seconds.

SSD hosting is much more reliable than regular hard drives, and they help speed up your websites performance. This alone is worth it!
Garen says
I agree. I still can’t believe how many hosts don’t use SSD yet. My Apple laptop even has SSD. I won’t ever go back to a regular hard drive.

This is so useful post for us.Thank you so much for providing your valuable information. I have switched over to SSD years ago and refuse to use SATA. SSD is just so much faster as you stated.
