I want to start off by saying I have tried a lot of online marketing programs, read countless books, etc. and a lot of them promise you astronomical ROI’s on your investments. The entire internet is plagued with “get rich overnight scams. Needless to say that people “buy” into these programs, books, etc. and eventually just give up. I have personally been ripped off online when I started my business 7+ years ago. I want you to stop reading this right now if you don’t want to actually work for your online business. Wealthy Affiliate is not a place where you just click a button and make all kinds of money. In fact, it’s entirely different because you need to apply the knowledge that you learn there and work at it for several months. Then you can start making money online.
How Does Wealthy Affiliate Work
Wealthy Affiliate is a subscription based program where you learn how to make money online with affiliate marketing. This means everything from buying a domain name, starting your very first website, putting up content, marketing your site, etc. It’s a very time-consuming task that can take lots of time to learn. However, as you will learn; it’s one of the best communities you can join if you’re interested in getting into monetizing your website and making money. Take tbwhs.com for example; it’s my hosting review site that I started back in 2009. The goal was to rate different web hosting companies and then get affiliate commissions for it. Over the years tbwhs.com has really evolved a lot with all the help, I have gotten at Wealthy Affiliate.
Ok, so enough talking about my site. You want to know what you’re getting when you join Wealthy Affiliate.
5 Training Modules
There are 5 core training modules with Wealthy Affiliate. Each of them has 10 lessons in each one of their training programs. You can learn each module at your own rate, and there is little task that you need to complete which really helps you absorb the knowledge you have just gained.
This is a lot more effective than purchasing an eBook on reading everything you need to know about internet marketing. In fact, the community interaction, training, and 1 on 1 help are what makes Wealthy Affiliate stand out.
Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp
After you have completed their training modules, you’re ready to jump into Wealthy Affiliate’s Boot Camp. This will give you step by step actions to take to start developing a website and getting you started with internet marketing, the right way.
There are 7 “phases” of Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp. Once you completed them you will have a fundamental knowledge of making money online.
Lots of Training Material
Don’t just think that once you have completed your core training and your boot camp training that you’re completely on your own. In fact, you will probably have some questions along the way. You have access to lots of training that their members have created. There is lots of training for Wealthy Affiliate members that want the branch to out into different areas of their business.
For me, since I work exclusively with WordPress I regularly look over the “everything WordPress” classroom. There are all kinds of great information on different plugins that people are using and how-tos.
Once you sign up with Wealthy Affiliate, you’re going to want to set up your own personal space. Think of this as your own little Facebook page for your online business. I would recommend that you add a picture of you, a brief bio on your member area, and familiarize yourself with the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
People actively participate at Wealthy Affiliate. This means that you’re not just on your own to figure everything out once you read and watch your training videos. If you have questions, need feedback, need to send a personal message, etc. you can always ask for help. Typically, you get a response within 15 minutes of asking your question.
1 on 1 Help From Two Established Millionaires
Whenever you’re into the lucrative world of affiliate marketing, you’re going to have a lot of questions. What can be the most time consuming is trying to figure out everything yourself? You might end up reading a lot and getting feedback from one “guru” after another, but at the end of the day, you need advice from someone you can trust.
Consultations with some of the biggest and most successful internet marketers would cost thousands of dollars for their time. Kyle and Carson’s 1 on 1 help is enough for me if that is all that was offered at Wealthy Affiliate. I have a great working relationship with them. Whenever I have problems with the direction, I want to take my business I lean on them for advice.
It usually takes about 12 to 48 hours to get a response from either Kyle or Carson.
Free Web Hosting
Shared hosting is going to cost you at least $3 to $20 each month for an account. A lot of web hosting companies are owned by the same brand EIG which is essentially the same company. People seem to switch from host to host all the time. Hence, why I started tbwhs.com. But, with Wealthy Affiliate you get free web hosting with your account. Did I mention that it’s WordPress managed hosting? Other similar WordPress managed hosting cost $30 a month (see WP Engine).
A lot of newbie webmasters are quite intimidated by the words web hosting, domain names, cPanel, etc. Wealthy Affiliate uses something called “SiteRubix” which makes managing your websites a breeze.
My Early Wealthy Affiliate Experience
Back in 2008, I was so new to internet marketing. I didn’t know a thing about it. About the only thing I knew was I wanted to dabble with it and see if I could make any money with it. I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate in November of 2008 after purchasing a lot of ebooks and having zero success.
I remember back in November of 2008 I signed up with Wealthy Affiliate. There was a lesson plan that showed you step by step guides on how to make money. This was primarily done through article marketing. A tactic of SEO that really is irrelevant today.
The community was great back then and I did meet a lot of like minded people that were trying to succeed in affiliate marketing. I met one of my PHP coders there that I still hire for jobs that are out of my technical know how.
Back in 2008 Wealthy Affiliate really wasn’t what it is today, though. I was a member for about 6 months and finally canceled my account because I thought I had all the knowledge I needed about internet marketing. I had lots of success with my online business from 2009-2011. But, like all changes that companies go through I ran into some setbacks in 2011 and my online business really started to struggle. I tried everything but really couldn’t get my online business back on track. So, on April 4, 2015, I decided to sign up with Wealthy Affiliate once again.
My 2015 – 2016 Experience
Back in April of 2015, I decided to give Wealthy Affiliate another try. They were there for me when I first began my affiliate marketing business, and I had a very positive experience with them 7 years ago.
When I rejoined with them in 2015 I immediately noticed that Wealthy Affiliate had evolved a ton with the changing internet world. They had live video tutorials, better structured training modules, live chat, etc.
To this day I am an active member of Wealthy Affiliate. I have met dozens and dozens of other affiliate marketers that have changed my whole perspective on the entire industry. Mostly, I network with other people there and learn from others. The weekly webinars keep you up to speed with what is changing in the affiliate world. The free web hosting is a nice feature and the 1 on 1 support from Kyle and Carson are just one of the few reasons I remain a paying customer.
Since I have made the mistake of abandoning Wealthy Affiliate in the past, I have realized that I need it to help keep me on the right track. At least every 3 months I try to send Kyle a message and run some my ideas by him to see what he thinks about them.
What Does Wealthy Affiliate Cost?
It is entirely free for a week to try. This means you get full access for 7 days just to see if you want to see what is inside. You don’t have to put in your credit card or anything, and then remember to cancel if you don’t want it like a lot of other online business models. You get access to the first training module which is 10 lessons. The table down below shows you what you get with the free and paid membership:
For the first month of your subscription Wealthy Affiliate cost $19/month. After that the price does go up to $49/month. One business expense I plan on is just taking advantage of their “Black Friday” sale which makes the bill $299/year. This averages out to about $25/month.
This Wealthy Affiliate University review was written by Christene Swanepoel who has been a member of Wealthy Affiliate since June 15, 2013. There are almost 300 comments on this article, and people have used Wealthy Affiliate in her review. They seem to be happy there.
This article by Lev shows what it’s like to use Wealthy Affiliate. He has used Wealthy Affiliate since May 14, 2013. There are over 100 comments left by people who are interested in making money online.
There are countless Wealthy Affiliate reviews that I would like to include in this article, but it would be easier to just go to Google and type in “Wealthy Affiliate Review, ” and you will see that there are thousands of reviews. There are couple complaints on RipoffReport.com, but I really feel there are always people that are always going to complain no matter what in this world. I have read through the complaints and don’t really believe they hold much merit.
All and all, Wealthy Affiliate is an excellent program if you’re serious about being successful with your online marketing. They get very positive feedback in the affiliate marketing community. It’s going to take some time to learn the ends and outs of affiliate marketing, but if you’re willing to put the effort forward, t will certainly be worth your while. The training there is top notch, the 1 on 1 help, free web hosting, and community is the reason I use them.
