Yes, you can check at GTmetrix.com to see if any are taking forever to load. Then click on the “Timeline” tab. That will let you know of plugins that are problematic. 🙂

Now, I always considered myself a careful plugin user, but what works with one theme, might not work with another. I have got this page bookmarked now, so next time I want a new shiny plugin for my site, I’ll come back and read through your advice again so I don’t make the wrong decision! Thanks for a great post that helps relative newbies like myself make sense of WP!

Hey Claire,

Yep, I have made that costly mistake before. Hence, why I wrote this post. Imagine this I chose a crappy plugin for reviews and had to invest $500 in migrating all my comments to a new plugin at TBWHS. Ugggh, I guess I can say I have learned from my mistakes.
